Oxford Health Plans
Moses Medical is an in-network provider for Oxford Health Plans. We accept Freedom, Liberty plans.
Oxford offers two networks: Freedom and Liberty. Both work at our office, but they work differently. Knowing which one you have will save you time and money.
Oxford is a subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare, and it is one of the most common employer-sponsored plans in the New York metro area. Moses Medical at 871B Westchester Ave in the Bronx is in-network for both Oxford Freedom and Oxford Liberty.
What Oxford Covers
Oxford members at Moses Medical can receive:
- Primary care for physicals, sick visits, and chronic condition management
- Primary care for diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and thyroid issues
- Cardiology for heart health evaluations and cardiovascular risk screening
- Dermatology for skin exams, rashes, acne, and mole checks
- Behavioral health for therapy, counseling, and medication management
- Podiatry for heel pain, bunions, diabetic foot exams, and ingrown toenails
- Lab services for on-site blood work and diagnostic panels
All of these are in one building, which means your providers share records and can coordinate without delays.
Freedom vs. Liberty: Key Differences
This is the part that trips people up.
Oxford Freedom gives you a bigger network and lets you see specialists without a referral. You do not need to pick a primary care provider, though having one is still a good idea. Premiums tend to be higher because you are paying for the flexibility.
Oxford Liberty uses a smaller network and costs less per month. The trade-off is that you must select a primary care provider and get a referral before seeing any specialist. If you skip the referral, you could be billed at out-of-network rates even at an in-network office.
Not sure which one you have? Check your insurance card. It will say “Freedom” or “Liberty” on the front. You can also call Oxford at 1-800-444-6222 or log into oxhp.com.
If you have a Liberty plan and want to name a Moses Medical provider as your PCP, you can do that through the Oxford member portal or by calling our office at (646) 741-2111.
Using Your Oxford Plan Fully
Preventive visits cost $0. Annual physicals, blood work, and recommended screenings are covered with no copay under both Freedom and Liberty. These are the appointments that spot problems before they get expensive.
Behavioral health is a medical benefit. Oxford covers behavioral health visits for anxiety, depression, and stress. Your copay is listed on your benefit summary.
Read your explanation of benefits. After each visit, Oxford sends an EOB that shows what was billed, what they paid, and what you owe. If a charge looks wrong, call Oxford or ask our billing team. Fixing billing errors early saves you money. Call (646) 741-2111 to schedule.
