A patient comes in for a diabetes follow-up and mentions she has not been sleeping. Her A1C is climbing because she stopped taking her medication. She is not non-compliant. She is depressed. At Moses Medical, the psychiatrist is down the hall, not across town.

Our behavioral health team treats depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, grief, and substance use through a combination of psychotherapy and medication management. Clinicians share records with your medical providers so that a treatment plan for anxiety can account for the blood pressure medication you are already taking. This integrated model catches the cases that fall through the cracks at practices where mental health is a separate referral.

Both in-person and telehealth sessions are available. No referral is required under any Medicaid managed care plan in New York.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What behavioral health services do you provide?
We offer screening and treatment for depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, and other mental health conditions. Our approach integrates behavioral health with your primary care so you can get comprehensive support in one place. We provide therapy referrals, medication management, and crisis support.
Is my behavioral health visit confidential?
Absolutely. All behavioral health visits are strictly confidential and protected by federal and state privacy laws including HIPAA. Your mental health records are kept separate from your general medical records and are not shared without your explicit written consent, except in cases where there is an immediate safety concern.
Do I need to be diagnosed with a mental illness to seek help?
No. You do not need a diagnosis to talk to one of our providers about stress, sleep problems, grief, relationship difficulties, or just feeling overwhelmed. Many patients come in simply because they are going through a hard time and want support. Early intervention can prevent issues from becoming more serious.
Can my primary care doctor prescribe medication for anxiety or depression?
Yes. Many of our primary care providers are trained to screen for and treat common mental health conditions like anxiety and depression, including prescribing medications when appropriate. For more complex conditions, they may refer you to a psychiatrist or behavioral health specialist within our network.
Do you offer therapy or counseling on site?
We provide initial assessments and ongoing medication management on site. For regular therapy and counseling sessions, we coordinate with trusted behavioral health partners in the Bronx and can set up referrals quickly. Our goal is to make sure you have a seamless path to the care you need.
